Gear and Requirements








This is the basic gear list recommended for standard patrols, configured for long range deployments.


Uniform

New Zealand Woodland DPM Combat Shirt and Trousers. Preferably recent patterns. 

Thermal layer - Top and pants

Trouser Belt - OD webbing with heavy velcro or a fastex clip. Alternatively, trouser drawstrings can simply be used.

Gloves - Wool, Neoprene, Thermal etc, OD

Scrim netting or Shemagh



Headgear:

Any of the following are correct to wear

Beanie - OD

Bush Hat - DPM

Helmet - MICH 2000 or PASGT M88 with DPM covers.

 

 

 





Footwear:

High ankle boots are ideal, otherwise any type of hiking boot is acceptable as long as it is camouflage coloured.

Footwear should have adequate ankle support, grip and be water resistant.

 

 

 

 



Webbing:

Standard long range patrol rigs can consist of:

PLCE Webbing Rig (Belt, ammunition pouches, utility pouches, yoke)

OR:

NZ Army Issue Assault Vest, any type

OR:

Mixed webbing components such as:

Webbing Belt - Preferably NZ Army issue.

Suspenders - ALICE LC-2 Suspenders, M-56 Suspenders, PLCE yoke etc.

Pouches - MOLLE, PLCE or ALICE.  Modified pouches are fine to use eg. ALICE pack pouches with belt loops. 


Packs:

Army issue OD or DPM rucksack, bergen or pack. Essentials should be carried with your webbing, so packs are only for longer range deployments.


Desert Equipment

Uniform:

British/NZ two-colour Desert DPM combat shirt and trousers

Headgear:

Hat - Desert DPM

Beanie - OD

Helmet - MICH 2000 or M88, preferably with cover.

Shemagh - Coyote or Tan

Webbing:

Standard TF1 webbing


 To join, you must:

Have a reasonable level of fitness

Be able to obey all the orders from the squad leader

Be committed to your tasks

Take pride in your uniform and kit

 Magnum Stealth Boot, currently in use by New Zealand. Obviously not the cheapest, but these (or similar) are the most suitable for TF1.

Equipment:

Below is a list of recommended contents you should carry within your webbing and in your pack (for longer range deployments). What you carry is ultimately up to you (excluding the essential components)

- Phone, Flashlight, Radio and Compass

- Water canteens

- Camouflage net

- First aid kit/Field dressing

- Rations and high energy snacks

- Survival kit

Pack Contents

- Waterproof fly (Tarpaulin, Basha etc) - Woodland Camouflage

- Pegs and rope

- Sleeping mat

- Groundsheet

- Clothing layers (fleece, waterproofs etc)

- Plastic bag, utility

- Mess tin kit

- Eating utensils

- Hexamine stove and tablets

- Matches

- Sachets of sugar, coffee etc

- Socks spare pair

- Meals

- Entrenching tool
